Who We Are

Founded by Builders, not Auditors.

Osparna represents a new approach to Technology Due Diligence.

"It takes seven years and $30 million to train a venture capitalist." — Vinod Khosla

Osparna's founders didn't audit technology companies before this — they built and ran them, at In-Q-Tel and beyond. That's the actual difference between a builder and an auditor: an auditor checks whether the technology works as claimed. A builder has stood inside the codebase, the architecture, the team, and knows what the claim is actually worth — because they build.

That perspective is why teams at potential investment targets open up to Osparna in a way they wouldn't to a traditional auditor, and why the resulting reports read like they were written by people who've shipped, not people who've checked boxes.

Leadership

Troy Pearsall — Chief Executive Officer

Prior to co-founding Osparna, Troy was most recently CIO of In-Q-Tel, where he oversaw development of their due diligence platforms. During his tenure at IQT, Troy served in various executive roles responsible for IQT's technology diligence and evaluation process. Previously, he led the Business Intelligence and Analytics team at GSI Commerce, and has worked in a variety of leadership and technical capacities across software, defense contracting, and strategic communications.

Matt McKnight — Chief Technology Officer

Prior to co-founding Osparna, Matt was President of LMN Solutions, a defense contractor he grew from $0 to $20M in annual revenue over seven years. While at LMN, Matt developed the initial version of IQT's due diligence platform. His current focus spans imagery analysis, scalable data analytics, cybersecurity, and machine learning.

Linnet States — Co-Founder & Head of Product

Linnet co-founded Osparna in 2017 and personally built its platform — the Rails application that gives family offices, private equity firms, and venture capitalists a structured way to understand their own investing bias and make more consistent decisions. She still owns product strategy, roadmap, and customer support today, and runs Osparna's own scrums — a Certified Scrum Product Owner and Certified ScrumMaster (Scrum Alliance). Before Osparna, Linnet was a Product Manager at IQT, where she took a product from concept to production in under a year and then ran its phased rollout across the company; before that, she was a software engineer there, serving as ScrumMaster for a five-person agile team. Earlier in her career she led and supported programs for the NSA and DoD as a software engineer at Technology Management Associates, an associate at Booz Allen Hamilton, and a senior systems analyst at Lockheed Martin. She holds a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Software Engineering.

Carl Fyffe — Co-Founder & VP of Engineering

Carl joined as a co-founder in Osparna's second year, bringing 30+ years turning abstract requirements into scalable systems for startups and enterprise alike. At Osparna he's led VC due diligence engagements spanning industries from golf to supply-chain logistics to HR, and architected two of the platform's core applications — a Rails-based risk-assessment tool, and a news-aggregation system built on Bayesian machine learning, Google's entity-extraction API, and Apache Solr. Alongside Osparna, Carl runs Fox Throw LLC, a self-founded venture that grew a B2C SaaS product to 600+ subscribers and has built, acquired, and divested multiple e-commerce businesses; his day job is AI Enablement Engineer at Seerist, following a run leading cloud automation at GovCIO.

The name

"Osparna" derives from ancient Persian-era language in the book of Ezra, meaning "doing a thing the way it has to be done: diligently, exactly, thoroughly, without delay."
